CUIDA  is a powerful educational program that emphasizes animal welfare and the reasonable use of livestock in Charreria and American Rodeo. The certified first aid provider program goes well above and beyond the established requirement of having a “on call” Veterinarian available to respond in one hour.

The certified CUIDA responder will administer immediate first aid and secure subject, while personnell summons on call Veterinarian. Responder will administer sedative and pain relief if deemed necessary by Veterinarian en route to location. Upon arrival, Veterinarian will administer further treatment if and as needed.

Animal husbandry, equestrian law and responsibility, proper horsemanship and training, veterinary medicine and official event administration are all integral elements of our program. Certified programs will be taught by distinguished industry professionals of each realm.

The Pico Rivera Sports Arena in Southern California serves as National headquarters for the CUIDA animal welfare and educational program.

The CUIDA program will remain affordable and accessible to all ages. All CFUSA members are required to participate in these courses. All children are required to learn the essential elements of animal welfare and husbandry before they proceed to the wonderful world of Charreria and Rodeo.

The program includes Lab, field and hands on courses available in various facilities throughout California and eventually, the United States.

Initial courses will cover:

  • First Aid and CPR for children and adults
  • First Aid provider certification for livestock
  • Charreada and Rodeo rules and regulations
  • Animal Husbandry
  • Maintenance and health procedures such as parasite control and integrated vaccination scheduling
  • Hoof and leg care
  • Equine Dentistry
  • Rescue techniques
  • Event administration
  • Public Relations
  • Approved Livestock provider certification (in conjunction with FMCH )
  • Approved competition arena certification (in conjunction with FMCH )

Some of our members include Bachelor degree graduates of Animal Science, Norco and Los Angeles Mounted Posse, PRCA, CFUSA, FMCH, and Law enforcement officers.

We are currently in talks with L.A., Riverside and San Diego County Animal Control departments in an effort to unite our efforts to educate the public through the CUIDA program. Our goal is that this program become nationally recognized and validated for continued education credits.

The Horses Prayer:

Master, I am here to serve you. Help me understand what you ask of me. Together, we can accomplish any feat. Whether it be on the prairie. riverbed or our beloved competition arena.

Yes, i feel the thrill and get the chills when I hear the anthem of Zacatecas at every competition. I whinny and prance, and want to win and receive applause with you.

Please remember, I cannot speak. Look at my eyes, ears, feet and tail. They are my voice and my means of communication. Treat me like a faithful companion and please be slow to punish me. Don’t forget to inspect the condition of all riding gear, sometimes it doe not transmit commands properly.

All I ask is adequate shelter and nutrition, and I will try my hardest to please you.

Beloved owner, when…because of my old age and condition, you find that I cannot compete with you anymore.. please remember that your children grew up riding me, and I want to do the same for your grandchildren.

From me, that was born in your barn.
